This project transforms a derelict marine shed into an active commercial building incorporating retail, bars, gaming areas and restaurants. Using the base building as a scaffold, a roofed colonnade containing alfresco areas, pedestrian circulation and tenancy entries was “clipped” on to the side of the existing structure. This colonnade activated pedestrians to make the pleasant journey alongside the newly attractive commercial premises to arrive at a water front destination. Mid-span and perpendicular to the existing structure and colonnade a main entry was established to provide access from a new piazza in front of the building through to a new public market on the other side.
